Responsibilities - Freelance Backend Engineer (Scala)

What are you going to do?

Leverage Scala for maintaining high-volume backend microservices and design backend architecture for an energy flexibility and trading platform;
Undertake greenfield development of new microservices using Kotlin and Spring Boot to establish a future-proof ecosystem;
Ensure timely delivery of implementations by communicating effectively with stakeholders and working independently;
Demonstrate code excellence through clean, efficient, and well-documented code, participating in the full SDLC including testing and QA;
For this specific project, we require prior experience with Scala because we have a tight deadline to finish it by the end of 2026, and it involves working with our legacy systems;
Communicate with the stakeholders and independently ensure the implementation is delivered on time.

Senior-level backend software engineering experience;
Expertise in JVM languages, specifically Scala;
Strong background or deep interest in functional programming and API design;

The Offer - Freelance Backend Engineer (Scala)

Join a leading sustainable energy company in Amsterdam for a permanent, full-time (32-40 hours/week) role. Freelance/ZZP or flex contract is possible under Independent Recruiters.
